Western Australians planning to enter tonight’s $100 million Powerball draw are encouraged to get their tickets early to avoid the crowds.
If an individual WA player takes home the entire $100 million jackpot tonight, it will be the largest lottery prize on record for the State.
Lotterywest CEO Colin Smith said ticket sales usually peak in the final hours leading up to the draw.
“We are expecting the busiest time for ticket sales to be between 4pm and 5pm this afternoon, with around 920 tickets sold each minute,” he said.
“Tonight’s jackpot is a great opportunity to create a syndicate with family or friends and share the cost of a ticket and possibly the joy of a win.
“Significant Division One wins in WA are often shared by syndicates, including a group of work mates who shared a $53 million Powerball prize in October 2022, which is fantastic to see.”
Powerball’s five-week jackpot run has so far raised around $9 million for Lotterywest’s grants program.
Through funds raised from ticket sales, Lotterywest can support groups across WA, which includes a $2.5 million grant to the Shire of Derby/West Kimberley to upgrade community spaces in Derby and engage local young people.
Tickets for tonight’s $100 million jackpot are available until 6pm in-store, online, or via the Lotterywest App.
