Dolphin Discovery Centre Bunbury

The Dolphin Discovery Centre in Bunbury is a self‑funded community organisation committed to protecting the Southwest’s marine environment, with a special focus on its resident Bottlenose Dolphins.

Through a $67,510 Lotterywest grant, they will now be able to expand and diversify their conservation projects - helping strengthen rescue efforts, enhance habitat restoration, and empower the Centre to continue protecting our oceans for future generations.

The grant enabled the Centre to purchase new quality cameras which are used out on the water, allowing the team to document dolphins and support ongoing photo‑identification research, which is essential for understanding dolphin wellbeing and behaviour.

Volunteer Raquel Rodrigues says the impact of this work is significant: “Tracking dolphins with photo identification is really important to help us better understand them and once we can do that, we can better protect them in the future.”
