A Palmyra woman has made the delightful mistake of misjudging her Saturday Lotto prize by $1.3 million.
The woman in her 40’s initially thought her ticket from Palmyra Supa News matched the numbers to a $20 prize.
“I checked my ticket and thought I had won $20,” she said.
“So, I went to reinvest my winnings by purchasing a ticket for the next draw, which at first confused the retailer.”
The retailer discreetly informed the player her ticket was worth $1.3 million rather than $20 and she would need to go to Lotterywest HQ to claim the prize.
“I was with my friend at the time and all I could say is, ‘well dinner is on me.’
Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said attention now turns towards Tuesday’s $100 million OZ Lotto draw.
“OZ Lotto’s $100 million jackpot offers the chance to create the biggest Division One winner in WA’s Lotto history,” he said.
“This is the first time in more than a decade that OZ Lotto has jackpotted to $100 million and it could result in a record-breaking prize for a WA player.”
Meanwhile, WA recorded its eighth Division One prize for the year, thanks to last night’s Millionaire Medley draw.
The search is on for the owner of a ticket from NewsXpress Whitford City that matched the numbers to a $1 million prize.
Thanks to WA players and retailers, Lotterywest as the only government owned and operated lottery in Australia, can return all available profits to the WA community in the form of grants.
Lotterywest recently provided a $34,000 grant towards the 2025 WA Wetlands Centre Conference, supporting knowledge sharing and community connection through conservation.
