The owner of a $2.5 million Saturday Lotto prize said his ticket sat in wallet that went missing multiples times before being claimed at Lotterywest.
The man from the Perth Hills can be revealed as the owner of the Saturday Lotto Division One prize sold from Mundaring Lotto and Gifts.
The man in his 40’s said he had no idea his ticket, which was bought on a spur of the moment decision, was the missing Division One winner.
“It’s been in my wallet for the whole week,” he said.
“I’ve misplaced my wallet so many times over the past few days, at one point it was left in my unlocked car overnight.”
The winner said the decision to stop in Mundaring to buy a Slikpik 25 was thanks to being more organised than usual.
“We were running early for a meeting, which never happens, so we decided to grab lunch and a Lotto ticket.”
Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said all eyes have now turned to Thursday’s $100 million Powerball draw.
“When jackpots like this week’s $100 million Powerball draw, reach these heights it’s a great opportunity to get together with family, friends or workmates to share the cost of a ticket and hopefully the joy of a win,” he said.
“If you are buying a ticket in Thursday’s draw our advice is to plan ahead to avoid the queues, which usually start in the final hours before the draw.”
“It’s also a good idea to register your ticket to a Lotterywest membership, which means your ticket is safe even if it is misplaced.”
