Can Powerball’s $100 million draw deliver a WA record?

Western Australians have a chance to set a prize record, with a ticket in tonight’s massive $100 million Powerball draw.

If a WA player takes home the entire $100 million jackpot tonight, it will be WA’s largest Division One prize on record and the second largest nationally.

Lotterywest CEO Colin Smith said ticket sales are expected to peak in the final hours leading up to the draw.

“We are expecting the busiest time for ticket sales to be between 4pm and 5pm this afternoon with close to a thousand tickets to be sold each minute,” he said.

“It’s not every week we see our jackpotting games reach these heights, this being just the ninth time Powerball has offered a $100 million prize in the game’s 28-year history.

“For the past six weeks, no ticket across the country has claimed a Division One Powerball prize, which has seen the jackpot roll into a $100 million prize.”

As the only State Government owned and operated lottery in the country, all available profits from Lotterywest’s games go directly back to supporting the WA community.

This six-week jackpot run has seen more than $11 million raised so far for Lotterywest’s grants program.

The money raised from these ticket sales makes it possible for Lotterywest to support WA groups like Ruah Community Services, with an $862,500 grant towards crisis and emergency relief across the State.

Tickets are available until 6pm tonight in-store, online, or via the Lotterywest App.
