Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia
Every young person deserves to feel heard, supported, and empowered, and that’s exactly what the Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia (YACWA) is working towards. As the State’s peak non-government youth organisation, they operate as a human rights organisation with a vision centred around celebrating and actively engaging young people in all aspects of life.
Thanks to a $268,668 Lotterywest grant, YACWA was able to relocate to a larger, more centrally located office space. This new home is giving them the capacity to run more youth-led training and engagement activities, create dedicated spaces for volunteers to connect, and host community and sector-wide events that amplify young voices.
Through advocacy and collaboration, YACWA plays a vital role in strengthening the youth services network across Western Australia and addressing the exclusion of young people in a rapidly changing society. As Troy from YACWA shares, “Being able to give young people a safe space where they can thrive and don’t feel threatened, that’s everything. Working with young people across the state to ensure we’re fulfilling exactly what young people want in Western Australia.”
This move is a powerful step forward for YACWA and it’s made possible by you. Your Lotto ticket helps fund projects and initiatives that create real impact across WA - that's the difference a grant makes.
