Sudden Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OHCR), is a leading cause of death in Australia, affecting 33,000 people each year. Swift action has proven to increase the chance of survival through early defibrillation and effective CPR.
Adam from St John’s said by having bystanders perform CPR with community access to defibrillators will give those in need the best chance possible.
“With every minute that passes without intervention there’s an extra 10 per cent chance that that person doesn’t survive,” he said.
CEO of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Urban Landcare Group Kim said: "I don't feel bad when I don't win because I know it helps the community. They also get to save lives as well. And that to me, is just something that you can't put into words."
