Motion by the Ocean is a Perth-based charity offering seniors and those less mobile free bike rides along WA’s iconic coastline, between Mullaloo and Trigg.
Eight years ago, a news story about a 20-year-old medical student from the UK who used his spare time to take residents from a care home on bike rides inspired Motion by the Ocean founder, Alanagh Godderidge, to start the charity.
“It moved me to see such a selfless act make real change for residents by simply helping them escape their four walls and reconnect with their community," Alanagh spoke of the inspiring story.
“As West Aussies, we have the perfect backdrop on our doorstep - our iconic coastline, which sparked the idea to bring this movement from the other side of the world to Perth.”
Starting small with a single bike in 2017 and growing to six trishaws since then, the free daily rides have been providing social connection and engaging seniors and those less mobile within the local community.
