Brightwater

With over 100 years in the WA community, Brightwater has been one of Perth's most trusted aged care and disability support agencies, ensuring a better quality of life.

Thanks to you playing Lotto, a $600,000 Lotterywest grant is supporting five communal sensory gardens and seven themed garden walkways for a newly built village-style residential facility located in Piara Waters, for people with Huntington's Disease.

The facility, which comprises of seven shares houses, accommodates 21 people with high support needs at any one time. The fully accessible gardens and walkways create a continuous flow between and around the houses, which stimulate and explore the five main senses, and offer shaded seating and shade for residents to connect and meet family and friends. The gardens have also been designed to include tactile, scented, edible, wildlife attracting shrubs and plants, and sound sculptures. The fruit, vegetable and herb gardens will also provide opportunities for purposeful gardening activities tailored to residents' capabilities.
