A Kingsley woman and her life-long best friend are planning a spa day after winning a $200,000 Scratch’n’Win prize.
The pair, both in their 40s, have been friends for longer than they can remember.
The winning friends bought the scratchie from Kingsway City Lottery Centre on the way to their favourite breakfast spot.
Over eggs on toast, they scratched the ticket and initially mistook it for a $200 prize.
“I was so excited about $200 - it’s the biggest prize I’ve ever seen on a scratchie,” the friend said.
“When we realised it was actually $200,000, we were both shaking, we couldn’t believe it.
“We were grinning like Cheshire cats and cheering for joy . . . people were starting to look at us wondering what was going on.”
After heading straight to Lotterywest HQ to claim their prize, the winning pair are planning a spa day together to celebrate.
“We can’t wait to be pampered and share a fancy lunch,” the winner said.
Also celebrating a Scratch’n’Win Top Prize is a Camillo woman in her 40s, who won $50,000 on a ticket bought from Kelmscott Newsagency.
“It will be so nice to put some extra cash in the bank for a rainy day,” the woman said.
“I am looking forward to celebrating over dinner with my housemate.”
Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said so far this year, 13 Western Australian players have scratched their way to a Top Prize, sharing in more than $1.6 million in prize money.
“In more good news, this year, Scratch’n’Win tickets have raised more than $11 million to benefit community groups across WA, thanks to Lotterywest’s grants program,” he said.
“All eyes now turn to tonight’s $30 million Powerball jackpot.”
Tickets for Powerball are available until 6pm on draw day in-store, online and via the Lotterywest App.
