“We’ll celebrate with a good old Aussie steak.”
A regional WA couple will celebrate with an Aussie staple after claiming their $1.13 million Saturday Lotto Division One prize from the Saturday Lotto’s 15 August draw.
The couple have been playing Lotto for the past 30 years, but this time had a “feeling” they would win.
“I said to my husband before he left for work; “I reckon we’ll win Lotto today”,” the winner said.
The couple plan to move house and buy close to the beach.
“We can finally call somewhere home and can buy ourselves a place near the coast, but first up we’ll head out to get a good old Aussie steak to celebrate.”
The couple said the winning ticket was a System 5, which they always bought, no matter which Lotto draw they bought a ticket into.
Lotterywest spokesperson Hermione Stott said System tickets cover multiple combinations of similar numbers, and so winning System entries will usually pay multiple prizes.
“Saturday Lotto is played by selecting six numbers. By choosing a System ticket, this allows you to choose fewer or more numbers than are drawn, generating every possible combination for your chosen numbers from a single ticket,” she said.
The winning ticket was purchased from Paraburdoo Lotteries and News and is the eighth Saturday Lotto Division One win in regional WA this year.
In the West Pilbara, a grant of more than $1 million was awarded to the Hedland Well Women’s Centre in Port Hedland to enhance its capacity to deliver culturally secure programs that support improved health, education and wellbeing outcomes for women across the region.
This weekend's Saturday Lotto Superdraw gives Western Australians a chance to share in a $20 million prize.
Tickets are available until 6pm on draw day in-store, online or through the Lotterywest App.
