WA Scratchie winner can’t wait for Monday

Monday is arguably the least exciting day of the week for many, however for one WA Scratch‘n’Win player the end of the weekend couldn’t come sooner.

The Parmelia couple discovered their 100k WA Gold Double ticket from Phoenix Lotteries had turned into $100,000 Top Prize.

The man in his 50s said after discovering the scratchie win on Saturday, he couldn’t wait for Lotterywest HQ to open on Monday so he could verify his win and claim the Top Prize.

“On Saturday I woke up feeling funny and with itchy palms, so I decided to take this as a sign to go and treat myself to a scratchie ticket,” he said.

After realising he had a winning ticket, the man said he had never wanted Monday to come around so much in his life.

The couple are now planning a trip to Bali to celebrate a positive start to 2025.

Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said 2024 has seen 51 Top Prize scratchie winners across WA share prizes totalling $5.2 million.

“In 2024, WA scratchies have raised $48.6 million for Lotterywest’s grants program which supports community groups across the State,” he said.

“Parmelia is not just home to our most recent $100,000 winner, but also an $85,000 Lotterywest grant to the City of Kwinana for a series of arts and family friendly events between October and March 2025.”

The next major prize on offer for WA players is Saturday’s Lotto’s $30 million Megadraw.

Megadraw tickets are available until 6pm on Saturday 4 January 2025, in-store, online and via the Lotterywest App.
