Set for Life winner swaps FIFO for family time

A fly-in-fly-out worker from Perth’s eastern suburbs will trade airport goodbyes for more time at home after becoming Western Australia’s first Set for Life Division One winner of 2026.

The man in his 60s purchased the winning two-game ticket through Lotterywest Play Online using a combination of family birthday numbers.

The winning ticket, which costs $9.45 and gave the man entry into seven consecutive Set for Life draws, has scored the FIFO worker $20,000 a month for the next 20 years - a total of $4.8 million across two decades.

Having not yet checked his ticket, the man said he discovered his win when he received a call from Lotterywest with the life-changing news.

“I thought, beautiful timing, now I can stop FIFO and find work locally to be closer to home,” he said.

Alongside a family holiday, the winner shared plans to support charities that help people – something that matters deeply to him.

“That’s why I enjoy playing Lotterywest games, because I know my money helps the community.”

Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said stories like this highlight the meaningful and positive impact a win can have.

“It’s wonderful to hear how this prize will help bring this man’s family closer together,” she said.

“Family has been at the heart of many recent WA Division One wins – just like the Mirrabooka family who planned a celebratory family dinner to mark their Saturday Lotto Division One win last month.”

Thanks to players and retailers across the State, Lotterywest supports the WA community by delivering hundreds of grants each year.

A Lotterywest grant of $336,079 is providing eight days of accessible beach matting at Cottesloe’s 2026 Sculpture by the Sea, ensuring visitors with mobility needs can explore the full exhibition, which opens today.

The next chance for WA players to win is in tonight’s Millionaire Medley draw. Tickets are available in-store, online or via the Lotterywest App until 6pm today.
