Scratchie win means more family adventures for Mount Barker mum

A Mount Barker mum is looking forward to family adventures after uncovering a $50,000 Scratch’n’Win top prize.

The woman purchased the winning $3 scratchie from Mount Barker Newsagency and was amazed when she scratched the ticket to see she had won.

Not quite believing what she was seeing, she returned to the same newsagency to have the win confirmed.

The Mount Barker woman said the win would help create memories with her children and bring her long-term goal of home ownership a step closer.

“I’d love to buy a new car that can fit all our bikes so we can do more trips to the beach and the bush as a family,” the woman said.

“I’ll also treat the kids next school holidays. It will be amazing to give them some money to spend on anything they like – that doesn’t happen very often.

“Anything leftover I’ll be saving towards a home deposit, I’d love to buy my own place one day.”

Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said WA had celebrated 30 Scratch’n’Win top prizes so far this year.

"We've seen 30 Scratch’n’Win top prizes celebrated across WA so far this year, including seven in regional communities all the way from Albany to Geraldton," she said.

"It's always exciting to see a win in regional WA, and it’s wonderful to think this Mount Barker family will be able to enjoy more adventures together, exploring the beaches and bushland that make the Great Southern so special."

In more good news, last night a WA ticket matched the numbers to a Division One Millionaire Medley prize.

WA's winning ticket, now worth $1 million, was sold by Kingsway City Lottery Centre in Wanneroo.

Thanks to WA players and retailers, all available profit from every Lotto ticket sold supports the WA community through Lotterywest’s grants program.

A Lotterywest grant of $860,012 is supporting the redevelopment of Wilson Park in Mount Barker, transforming the site into a destination playground and family-friendly recreation precinct.

Tonight WA players have the chance to win a $12 million Powerball prize.

Tickets are available in-store, online or through the Lotterywest app until 6pm tonight.
