Saturday Lotto jackpots for first time since 2022
Saturday Lotto has jackpotted for the first time in more than three years, and only the sixth time in the past two decades, after last weekend’s draw produced no Division One winners across the country.
In the past 20 years, Saturday Lotto has jackpotted five times, with the most recent jackpot occurring in August 2022.
Thanks to this rare event, this Saturday Western Australian players have the chance to share in a life-changing estimated $12 million Division One prize.
Just last week, a retired grandfather from Perth’s southern suburbs experienced a life-changing win of his own after taking home a Saturday Lotto Division One prize worth $585,000.
When visiting the Lotterywest Winners Room last week, the man in his 70s said he purchased the winning ticket through Lotterywest Play Online using his favourite numbers.
“I looked at my online account and saw six numbers highlighted on my ticket, but I wasn’t sure it was a winner,” the man said.
“Then I checked the results page and saw there were two WA winners, so I thought this could be it.”
A phone call from Lotterywest confirmed the great news.
“The gentleman on the phone said, ‘Congratulations, you’re a winner.’ It was surreal - I’m still trying to process it,” the winner said.
The retiree plans to use his prize to bring his family closer together by moving house to be near his children and grandchildren.
Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said Saturday Lotto is WA’s longest-running and most-loved lottery game, producing the most Division One Lotto winners in WA each year.
“Saturday Lotto has been WA’s most popular game since its inception in 1979 and is much-loved across the nation, which is why we usually see Division One winners each week,” she said.
“A Saturday Lotto jackpot is incredibly rare, making it even more exciting for WA players, especially as many don’t realise the game can jackpot.”
Thanks to WA Saturday Lotto players, more than $26 million has been raised so far this year for Lotterywest’s grants program, helping support communities across the State.
A Lotterywest grant of $1.4 million is supporting Thread Together with a three-year project to deliver equitable access of essential clothing for individuals, families and communities experiencing hardship across WA.
Saturday Lotto’s next draw will offer WA players the chance to share in an estimated $12 million prize. Tickets are available until 6pm on Saturday in-store, online or through the Lotterywest App.
