Western Australia has produced its first Division One Powerball winner for the year, with a single ticket taking out last night’s $30 million jackpot.
The ticket was purchased from Malaga Newsagency and is the only Division One winning ticket in last night’s draw.
As the ticket was registered to a Lotterywest membership, Lotterywest was able to contact the ticketholder this morning.
Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said this morning’s phone call would be a call most players would love to receive.
“Thanks to the ticket being registered, the ticketholder can be assured their prize is safe and they can let this life-changing win sink in and visit Lotterywest HQ in their own time,” he said.
“We can’t wait to speak to the ticketholder and find out what this $30 million win means to them.”
Thursday’s win has bumped Lotterywest’s Division One winner’s tally for the year to 52, with these WA players sharing more than $100 million in prizes.
There was more good news for WA players from Thursday’s draw with a Division Two ticket produced, which is worth more than $92,000 and was purchased from Caring Pharmacy East Fremantle.
This three-week Powerball jackpot run also helped raise $5.9 million towards Lotterywest’s grants program, with all available profit from every ticket sold benefitting the WA community.
Thanks to WA players and local retailers, Lotterywest can provide grants such as $5 million towards construction and fit out costs for the Indigo Junction Youth Crisis and Transitional Housing development, supporting young people experiencing homelessness.
The next major chance for WA players to win is this Saturday’s $20 million Superdraw.
Tickets are available until 6pm in-store, online or via the Lotterywest App.
