New home by the beach for Geraldton retiree

A Geraldton retiree will be enjoying life in a new home by the beach thanks to a recent $1.6 million Saturday Lotto prize.

The retiree, who has already put an offer on a beachside abode, said he was “over the moon” with the win.

“More than 20 years ago I won Division Two twice in one week thanks to Powerball and Saturday Lotto,” the winner said.

“It was an amazing week, I’ve always believed ‘good things come in threes’, so I’ve been hoping for another win ever since."

The winner, who currently lives in a caravan in Geraldton, shared that he has already put an offer on a home with an ocean view for himself, his partner, and their two dogs.

“This win has changed my life, I’m looking forward to more space and maybe even an overseas holiday later in the year,” the winner said.

“I’ll be sharing the win with my brothers and sisters too, there’s no way I can spend it all at this age, but I’ll have fun trying.”

In another feat for Saturday Lotto, across the weekend three Western Australian tickets matched the numbers to Division One prizes, now worth $741,935 each.

WA’s winning tickets were sold at The Mezz News in Mount Hawthorn, Margaret River Newsagency and through Lotterywest Play Online.

Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said it had been a busy start to the year for the Lotterywest Winners Room.

“We’ve celebrated some brilliant Division One wins already this year, with our tally for 2026 now at nine Division One winners who have shared more than $19 million in prizes,” she said.

“How brilliant to celebrate one metropolitan, one regional and one online win in Saturday Lotto over the weekend, we look forward to welcoming these ticketholders into Lotterywest Winners Room soon.”

Thanks to Lotto players and retailers across the State, vital funds are raised for Lotterywest’s grants program, which supports communities all over WA.

A Lotterywest grant of $30,000 is supporting Centacare Geraldton Limited with crisis and emergency relief for people experiencing financial hardship in the Midwest region.

This week’s $3 million OZ Lotto jackpot is giving WA players the chance to join the millionaires list.

Tickets are available until 6pm on Tuesday in-store, online and through the Lotterywest App.
