A couple from Joondalup have come forward as the owners of WA’s $3.3 million Megdraw Division One prize.
The winning ticket, purchased for the $40 million New Year’s Eve Megadraw, was sold from Currambine Lottery Centre and was one of 12 Division One prizes sold across the nation.
After eventually checking their numbers, the couple discovered they had been carrying around WA’s most expensive bag for the past week.
“It has been in my bag for a whole week,” the winner said.
“I’ve been lugging this bag around, unaware that I had $3.3 million inside.”
When asked what they planned the spend their winnings on, the couple said they would take time to consider all options but did plan on splashing out on some new gutters.
Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said 2023 has started strong with four winners from last Saturday’s draw.
“There are four tickets in WA now worth more than $909,000 each,” he said.
“We are hoping to see this winning trend continue in WA and with four winners to start 2023, we are certainly on track.”
Tickets for tonight’s $3 million OZ Lotto draw are on sale until 6pm tonight and can be purchased in-store, online or via the app.
Thanks to WA players and retailers, 2022 saw more than $303 million go back to WA community groups via Lotterywest’s grants program.
