Mirrabooka workmates celebrate $1.2 million Saturday Lotto prize

A weekly tradition has turned into a million-dollar moment for a group of Mirrabooka workmates after their ticket won a $1.2 million Saturday Lotto prize last weekend.

The winning Slikpik 30 was purchased from Mirrabooka Millions, with the group having played Saturday Lotto together every week for the past three and a half years.

One member of the group discovered the win after checking the winning numbers and immediately alerted the organiser.

“I couldn’t believe it. I kept thinking, am I reading this properly?,” the group member said.

“I called my colleague and told them they needed to check our ticket as soon as possible!”

At first, the ticketholder believed the group had won a smaller prize.

“I thought we’d won maybe $10,000, and I would have been happy with $1,000!” the ticketholder said.

“When we went back to Mirrabooka Millions to check the ticket, they told us to keep it safe until we got to the Lotterywest Winners Room – it was great we could share the experience together.”

The workmates plan to celebrate the win with a luxury dinner, and were excitedly discussing plans for new cars, holidays and family treats.

Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said the ticket was the second Division One winning ticket sold by Mirrabooka Millions since the start of the year.

“It’s always wonderful when a Division One win is shared by a group of players and tomorrow night’s $20 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw is another fantastic opportunity to play as a group to share the cost of a ticket and hopefully the joy of a win,” she said.

“To create a syndicate with family, friends or workmates, get together with at least five players and head to your local retailer who can help with the ticket.”

Thanks to WA players and retailers, Lotterywest delivers hundreds of grants that support communities across the State each year.

A Lotterywest grant of $425,000 is supporting the Volunteer Centre of Western Australia to celebrate and recognise WA volunteers and enhance the participation of volunteers across the State.

Tickets for Saturday Lotto’s $20 million Superdraw are available until 6pm on Saturday in-store, online and via the Lotterywest App.
