Margaret River ticket becomes WA’s second Set for Life win of 2026
A Western Australian ticket has secured two decades of wins after matching the numbers to a Set for Life Division One win last night, a prize of $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.
WA’s winning ticket was sold at Margaret River Newsagency and was the only Set for Life Division One win across the country.
The win marks another exciting milestone for Margaret River Newsagency, which has now sold two Division One prizes so far this year. In January a Margaret River local won a Saturday Lotto prize of $741,000 thanks to a ticket sold at the newsagency, with plans for a new pool and home renovations.
Josh Praed, owner of Margaret River Newsagency said it feels pretty good to sell a winning ticket.
“I had a feeling when we sold the last one that we might sell another soon and it happened,” Mr Praed said
“It’s great news, customers always get very excited and the staff are all keen to see which one of them sold the winning ticket.
“I think it’s really important that we inform customers of game odds and advise them of the range of games available, especially when the jackpots get high.
“We’d love to see the win go to a local person who will have their life changed forever.”
Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said with Margaret River being such a popular destination for school holidays, the ticketholder could be anybody.
“It’s so exciting to have a win in the regions, which could be a local or especially at this time of year, someone passing through the town,” she said.
“Whoever they are, winning is just the beginning for this ticketholder who will pocket $20,000 a month for the next 20 years, a total of $4.8 million across two decades.
“A Set for Life Division One win is such an exciting prize, delivering long‑term security and endless possibilities.”
Thanks to WA players and retailers, Lotterywest can continue to give back to the community through its grants program.
A Lotterywest grant of $59,000 is supporting Arts Margaret River to host arts and cultural activities which will increase community connection and participation in the Southwest.
WA players have the chance to share in a $6 million Saturday Lotto prize this weekend. Tickets are available until 6pm Saturday in-store, online or through the Lotterywest App.
