A Mandurah man almost missed out on a six-figure win, after coming forward as the owner of a Super66 prize, unclaimed since 13 January this year.
The man in his 30s had less than five weeks left to claim his $146,943 prize, which was simply stuck to his fridge.
A routine trip to the chemist was the spark that finally prompted the player to check his ticket.
“I just kept thinking, I’ll check it next month, and then the next month would come, and I’d think the same thing again,” he said.
“I couldn’t believe it when I finally checked, not only did I win, but I claimed my prize just in time!”
The man has shared the good news with his family and will put the money towards his house.
Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said finding the owner of the missing ticket was fantastic news as the year comes to a close.
“This player is going to have an extra special Christmas this year. What wonderful news, made even sweeter by getting in just five weeks before this ticket was going to expire,” she said.
“Players have 12 months from the draw date to claim prizes. This is a great reminder to check your tickets regularly and register tickets to a Lotterywest membership so we can get in contact with you if you’ve got a winning ticket.
"Just imagine having a winning ticket stuck to your fridge for almost the entire year.”
There’s just over a week until Christmas, with a scratchie gift pack an ideal option for the family member that’s hard to buy for.
Christmas scratchie gift packs are available from Lotterywest retailers, with options to include a ticket in Saturday Lotto’s $30 million Megadraw set for 4 January 2025.
Tickets are available in-store, online and via the Lotterywest App until 6pm draw day.
