A Mandurah couple in their 70s were in disbelief after discovering they had won a $300,000 Top Prize on a Loaded Multiplier scratchie.
“I scratched the ticket as normal and it looked like we had won,” the man said.
“We kept checking and checking, we thought it must be an error, you never think it’s actually going to happen to you.”
The woman headed to Nextra Forum West Newsagency in Mandurah where she had bought the ticket for confirmation.
When staff congratulated her on the $300,000 win, she headed home to share the good news.
“When she walked in the door, I saw the look on her face and knew straight away,” he said.
“That’s when the celebrating started. We jumped in the car and drove straight up to Lotterywest HQ to claim the prize.
“We didn’t want to risk losing the ticket, imagine that!”
The couple plan to use their winnings to make life more comfortable and help their children.
Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said this was the first scratchie Top Prize win of 2025.
“What a fantastic start to the year for this couple,” she said.
“Since 1 January, we’ve also seen three WA players win Division Two in Set for Life, meaning they’ll pocket $5,000 a month for the whole year.”
In 2024, Lotterywest delivered $146 million in grants to WA community groups, thanks to WA players and retailers across the State.
A Lotterywest grant is supporting the Rotary Club of Mandurah Districts to host the 2025 Family Fun Day on 19 April, a free event that the whole community can enjoy.
Saturday Lotto’s $10 million Special Event is happening this weekend.
