Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence Minister Sabine Winton has presented a Lotterywest grant of nearly $1 million to the Southern Aboriginal Corporation (SAC) for a new crisis accommodation facility for victim-survivors in Albany.
The Great Southern Safe Places project, which is being led by SAC, will support women and their children in times of crisis and help them make plans for a safe and secure future.
Stage one of the project will accommodate up to six families seeking crisis accommodation, and will include a communal space, administrative building, and outdoor spaces with gathering spaces and play equipment.
The funding of $997,396 will go towards security and safety aspects of the fit-out, plus landscaping and furniture for the new facility.
