Life-changing early birthday surprise for WA Lotto player
A WA Lotto player is celebrating an early birthday present after visiting Lotterywest HQ to claim his $2.5 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw Division One prize.
The south of the river man in his 50s, who is set to celebrate his birthday this month, said that while the celebrations will be all about him, the Lotto win is life-changing for his family.
“When Lotterywest called me a few days after the Superdraw to let me know I had just become a multi-millionaire, I was speechless,” he said.
“I’ve been trying to upgrade the family car for some time, so it is going to be fantastic to finally do that.
“Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be able to get some new wheels and pay off the mortgage in one go!”
Lotterywest spokesperson Jake Battrick said WA is celebrating two millionaires this week, after a ticket purchased from Yokine Lottery Centre and Post Office matched the numbers to win a Division One Millionaire Medley prize last night.
“The good news for WA players has continued with a Lotterywest Play Online ticket winning a Division Two Set for Life prize last night, which will see that player receive $5,000 a month for one year,” he said.
Thanks to Lotto players across the State, all available profits from ticket sales support community groups across WA through Lotterywest’s grants program.
A Lotterywest grant of more than $279,000 is supporting the development of a new Community Hub in Rockingham, a purpose-built space that not-for-profit groups can use to deliver vital services to locals and communities nearby.
WA players have the chance to join the millionaire’s list in tonight’s $30 million Powerball jackpot. Tickets are available until 6pm tonight in-store, online or through the Lotterywest App.
