An honest mistake has led one Perth woman to win Wednesday Lotto twice.
In her 70s, the woman said she used her Playslip to buy a ticket for Monday and Wednesday Lotto, and had meant to also use her partner’s Playslip for a second ticket, but inadvertently handed over hers again by mistake.
Monday and Wednesday Lotto offers $1 million for up to four players, meaning because of her mistake she won $2 million.
“I used my Playslip for this week’s Monday and Wednesday Lotto and when I realised I hadn’t used my partner’s Playslip, I felt so guilty that I couldn’t tell him what I’d done,” she said.
“I think he’s forgiven me now though.”
From Noranda, she said she was a regular player on Double Win Days, and that every year she filled out new Playslips to choose her own numbers.
“The win will mean a bit more travelling, we’ll replace the car and it gives us an opportunity to be kind and generous to others,” she said.
Lotterywest spokesperson Hermione Coleman said it just went to show that Lotto truly was a game of chance.
“It’s a lovely story and a fantastic win for Western Australia,” she said.
“Another chance to win big is in tonight’s $40 million Powerball and next Saturday’s $20 million Superdraw, which is always really exciting.”
The winning numbers were 44, 45, 40, 35, 31, 36 and the supplementary numbers were 42 and 18.
Tickets are available until 6pm from Lotterywest in-store, online or through the app.
