Highgate ticket wins $3.3 million Saturday Lotto prize
There’s a new multi-millionaire in Western Australia after a ticket sold at Highgate Lotto News & Gifts scored a life-changing $3.3 million Division One prize in Saturday Lotto’s $10 million special event over the weekend.
The WA ticket was one of three across the country that won a Division One prize.
Natasha Asquin, owner of Highgate Lotto News & Gifts, said she felt excited to sell a Division One winning ticket.
“We have had the shop for two and a half years and this is the first Division One winning ticket we have sold,” Natasha said.
“It’s so rewarding to know that one of our customers has won a prize that could change their life.
“We have lots of regulars but being in the city we have lots of people that pass by too – I’d love it if the winner was one of our regular customers.
“When a win like this happens so close to you, it makes you realise that winning Lotto really can happen to anybody.”
Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said WA's newest Division One winner had become the State's 30th Saturday Lotto Division One winner this year.
"Somebody who visited Highgate Lotto News & Gifts is holding onto an incredible $3.3 million prize," she said.
"With only three Division One winning tickets across Australia on Saturday night, it's fantastic to see one of those major prizes won here in WA.
"It's exciting to think that an ordinary trip to the shops may have resulted in an extraordinary outcome for one West Aussie."
In more good news for WA players, nine WA tickets scored Division Two prizes worth more than $12,000 each on Saturday night. The Division Two winning tickets were sold in Busselton, Bassendean, Padbury, Baldivis and through Lotterywest Play Online.
The Saturday Lotto special event also raised more than $2.2 million for Lotterywest's grants program, helping support community organisations and projects across WA.
For two decades, Lotterywest has supported the Rotary Club of North Perth's annual Hyde Park Festival through its grants program, helping thousands of people come together each March long weekend to celebrate the rich cultural diversity and community spirit of WA.
WA players will now turn their attention to Tuesday night's $30 million OZ Lotto jackpot, which offers the chance to win another life-changing prize.
Tickets are available in-store, online or through the App until 6pm on Tuesday.
