Favourite numbers secure first home for WA Lotto player

A woman in her 70s will soon purchase her own home for the first time thanks to a $1 million Division One Millionaire Medley prize.

Hailing from Perth’s northern suburbs, the woman became an instant millionaire when her favourite numbers came up in the Millionaire Medley draw on Friday 24 October.

Using her decades old numbers, the woman bought the winning System 7 ticket at Crimea Newsagency in Morley, which is now worth $1 million.

Currently working in healthcare five days per week, the woman said she will be able to cut down her hours and spend more time with her loved ones in her new abode.

“My job in healthcare is incredibly rewarding and I’m not ready to retire yet,” she said.

“This win is life-changing but I’ll keep working a few days a week because I love my job so much.

“I’m looking forward to celebrating the win soon with my family.”

Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said the woman's winning System 7 ticket includes multiple combinations of similar numbers, which means she will also take home more than $16,000 across other divisions.

“Seeing this winner turn their $4.70 System 7 ticket into a prize worth more than $1 million is a remarkable result and it was fantastic to hear her story in the Lotterywest Winners Room this week,” she said.

“Three new WA millionaires were made in October thanks to Millionaire Medley, including a woman in her 20s who will be celebrating her win by adding to her tattoo collection.

Millionaire Medley players also raise millions of dollars for Lotterywest’s grants program, which supports communities across WA.

A Lotterywest grant of $128,000 is supporting Constable Care with the innovative tools and technology needed to continue educating young people about safety and crime prevention. From new puppets to bikes, to video cameras and IT upgrades, every item funded by Lotterywest supports Constable Care to keep delivering high-quality safety and social education.

Tomorrow night’s $30 million Powerball jackpot gives WA players the chance to become a multi-millionaire. Tickets are available until 6pm on draw day in-store, online or via the Lotterywest App.
