Early retirement, business class and a second holiday for Saturday Lotto winner
A north-eastern suburbs man and his family will be celebrating his Saturday Lotto win of $1.28 million win later this month when they travel from the comfort of business class.
“Right now, it just doesn't feel real,” the man in his sixties said.
“We already have a holiday booked to celebrate our wedding anniversary, we will be upgrading our tickets.
“I think when we are sitting in business class for the first time ever it might finally sink in.”
His wife said she was also struggling to believe they had won.
“I was at work when my husband called me and he sounded so calm that I wasn’t sure if it was really true,” she said. “But here we are!”
The gentleman said the biggest change for him will be in his working life.
“It’s a relief to be able to pay off the mortgage, do some renovations and take early retirement,” he said.
“I would like to travel this year with our daughter – maybe go somewhere more exotic than our usual holiday destinations,” he said. “I’ve never travelled business class, so I’m looking forward to that.”
Lotterywest spokesperson Jennie Fitzhardinge said the couple had won WA’s 40th Division One Lotto prize of 2026.
“Since the start of 2026 we’ve seen 25 Division One Lotto prizes thanks to Saturday Lotto alone, which continues to change the lives of West Aussies like this north-eastern suburbs family,” Ms Fitzhardinge said.
“Business class flights, retiring earlier than planned and special occasions with loved ones are the kinds of life-changing opportunities Lotto prizes can create.
“Thanks to WA’s unique model, all available proceeds from Lotterywest games benefit the WA community through our grants program.”
The Ellenbrook Men’s Shed recently received a $55,944 Lotterywest grant for essential equipment, improving a community space where locals can come together, share skills and build friendships.
Tonight’s $4 million OZ Lotto jackpot gives West Aussies the chance to win. Tickets are available until 6pm Saturday in-store, online or through the Lotterywest App.
