Dream $250,000 Scratch’n’Win for Bunbury family
A young Bunbury family is one step closer to buying their first home thanks to winning a $250,000 Scratch’n’Win prize.
“We are still in a dream,” the husband said. “I checked the ticket once, then twice, and finally took it to the newsagent to check.”
The $20 scratchie was purchased from Bunbury IGA - a casual buy that quickly turned extraordinary.
“Even after checking with the newsagent, I scratched it completely when we got home to make doubly sure,” the husband said.
The family celebrated the win in true Aussie style, sharing the moment with their two children over a homemade lamb pie.
“My husband is a chef, so that was a nice treat,” the wife said.
“We’ve wanted to buy a house, and this will get us started.”
The couple shared the good news with their mothers, though neither initially believed them.
“I can’t blame them for not believing us, because we always used to joke that we had won the lottery,” the wife said.
Lotterywest spokesperson Jennie Fitzhardinge said the win marked Bunbury’s third Scratch’n’Win Top Prize for the year.
“In January two tickets purchased in Bunbury went onto win Top Prizes, including a $50,000 prize won by a Busselton couple in their late-20s,” she said.
“And it’s thanks to Scratch’n’Win players across the State that Lotterywest can support community organisations with grants, just like a $10,577 grant recently awarded to the Bunbury Rock’N’Roll Club.
“The grant will fund new sound and lighting equipment for the group, supporting stronger participation and performances.”
Tonight’s Millionaire Medley draw gives WA players the chance to win a $1 million prize, with tickets available until 6pm tonight in-store, online or through the Lotterywest App.
