Disneyland dreams come true for FIFO dad

A fly-in-fly-out worker from Perth’s northern suburbs will make his kids’ Disneyland dreams come true thanks to winning a $1 million Millionaire Medley prize.

The man, in his 50s, discovered his online ticket had made him a millionaire on the night of the draw.

“I had to get up and go to work early the next day and act completely normal, as if nothing had happened,” the winner said.

After finishing his FIFO swing, the man visited the Lotterywest Winners Room to claim his prize. On his bucket list as a new millionaire? Taking his kids on a holiday to Disneyland.

“Being mortgage free will also be brilliant,” the winner said.

“I’ll keep working for now but would love to work towards early retirement.”

Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said all eyes now turn to tonight’s $40 million Powerball jackpot.

“It’s been more than three years since a West Aussie won a $40 million Powerball prize, so there’s real excitement about what tonight could bring,” she said.

“The last time we saw a $40 million jackpot won in WA was in March 2023, when a Swan Valley family took home a $40 million Powerball prize.

“WA has already seen one Division One Powerball win this year, with a Pilbara grandfather pocketing $10 million in January.

“We’d love to see a WA ticket take home a slice of tonight’s jackpot and celebrate another life-changing WA win.”

Since the start of 2026, Powerball players have raised more than $46 million supporting community groups across the State through Lotterywest’s grants program. This includes a $425,000 grant supporting celebrations for WA’s volunteers during National Volunteer Week (18–24 May).

Tickets for tonight’s $40 million Powerball jackpot are available until 6pm tonight in-store, online or through the Lotterywest App.
