Currambine woman embraces fairy godmother role after $3.39 million win

A Currambine grandmother is looking forward to playing the role of fairy godmother to her family after winning $3.39 million in last Saturday Lotto’s $10 million Special Event.

The woman in her seventies said she and her husband are very close to their adult children and grandchildren, but they won’t be revealing their life-changing win.

“We have always helped out our family when they have needed it, now we will be able to do so in more significant ways,” she said with a twinkle in her eye.

“We won’t be telling them about the win, so I guess we will have to come up with some creative explanations for why we can help them out when they need it.

“We will also be able to pay off our mortgage and enjoy travelling around Australia.

“It is a lovely feeling of security knowing that we can have a comfortable retirement and set up our children and grandchildren for the future.”

They have already planned how they will celebrate their extraordinary win.

“We had a hotel stay booked for my husband’s birthday, so we will be going for an upgraded suite now!” she said.

The woman bought a Slikpik System 5 from Currambine Lottery Centre and was one of only three winners nationally, taking a $3.33 million share of the $10 million Division One prize pool.

Lotterywest spokesperson Jennie Fitzhardinge said as System tickets cover multiple combinations of similar numbers, winning System entries will usually pay multiple prizes.

“Saturday Lotto is played by selecting six numbers. Choosing a System ticket allows players to select fewer or more numbers than are drawn, generating every possible combination for your chosen numbers from a single ticket,” Ms Fitzhardinge said.

“In the case of our winner, she collected more than $57,000 in additional prizes across other divisions, taking her total prize winnings to $3.39 million.”

Ms Fitzhardinge said the Saturday Lotto $10 million Special Event raised an estimated $2.4 million for the community.

“It is thanks to Lotterywest players that Lotterywest can support community organisations with grants such as $120,000 towards the 2026 Joondalup Festival,” Ms Fitzhardinge said.

This weekend's Saturday Lotto gives Western Australians a chance to share in a $6 million prize pool.
