Lotto winner shocks wife with $1 million windfall
January 2024
Lotterywest celebrated another romantic surprise in January 2024 when a Duncraig couple walked into Lotterywest HQ. The man had told his wife they were claiming a “small prize”.
It was inside the Lotterywest Winners Room that the wife learned the truth, they’d won a $1 million Monday Lotto (now known as Millionaire Medley) prize.
After surprise and celebration, the husband shared plans to keep volunteering in his community and the couple said they looked forward to sharing their prize with family.
Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said most Western Australian winners put family, friends and loved ones at the centre of their future plans.
“Alongside the heart-warming stories of Division One prize winners, there are so many moving tales from WA organisations supported by Lotterywest grants,” she said.
“From Motion by the Ocean connecting seniors and those less mobile through coastal bike rides near Hillarys, to Ronald McDonald House Charities keeping families together when in need of medical care, WA is home to so many incredible organisations that bring communities together.”
In more good news, a WA Saturday Lotto player celebrated a life‑changing moment on the weekend, thanks to scoring a Division One prize of more than $2 million after purchasing the winning ticket through Lotterywest Play Online.
West Aussies have the chance to share a Lotto love in Saturday Lotto’s $20 million Superdraw happening this weekend on Valentine’s Day. Tickets are available in-store, online or through the Lotterywest App until 6pm Saturday 14 February.
