70+ years of memories and counting for great-grandmother
A Perth great-grandmother will continue to enjoy life in the home she has cherished for more than seven decades thanks to a Saturday Lotto Division One win.
The woman in her 90s, local to the Palmyra area, purchased the winning 18-game playslip at Palmyra Supa News for a Saturday Lotto draw in October 2025.
Having overcome some recent health challenges, the woman visited the Lotterywest Winners Room last week alongside two of her children to claim her $791,600 Division One prize.
A long‑time Saturday Lotto player, the winner said she had played with two sets of numbers for many years but recently dropped one set and stuck with her favourites.
“I used to have two sets of numbers and purchased two tickets for Saturday Lotto each week,” she said.
“Last year I dropped one set of numbers and stuck with the others.
“I obviously chose the right numbers to keep, I feel very fortunate.”
The great-grandmother and soon to be great-great grandmother who has lived in her home for more than 70 years, said as her care needs increased, she had reluctantly begun to consider the possibility of moving.
The Saturday Lotto Division One win arrived at exactly the right moment. With the support of her family, and with care costs now covered, the winner is delighted to be able to continue living in the home she loves.
Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said because this player had registered her ticket to a Lotterywest membership, Lotterywest was able to contact the woman after the October draw to let her know she’d won a Division One prize.
“Thanks to this player registering her ticket, we were able to contact her and keep in touch until she was ready to claim her prize last week,” she said.
“Registering your ticket also means that if it's lost or misplaced, you have peace of mind that it’s safely linked to your membership.”
Lotterywest is the only State Government owned and operated lottery in the country where all available profits are returned to the WA community in the form of prizes and grants.
A Lotterywest grant of $23,000 is supporting upgrades to the Southern Districts Senior Citizens Centre to increase social participation and connection for seniors in the City of Melville and broader community.
This week, Thursday’s $30 million Powerball jackpot gives WA players the chance to become a multi-millionaire.
Tickets are available until 6pm on Thursday in-store, online and via the Lotterywest App.
