The WAM Festival is the peak annual showcase and celebration of original WA contemporary music, capturing both fans' and the industry's imagination.
Following on from last year’s record-breaking 11,000+ attendees and winning WA’s ‘Best Festival’ in The Au Review Awards, WAM Festival is back for another year of musical exploration, enchantment and downright good times. In 2016 though, say hello to WAMFest presented by Drug Aware, this name change reflecting the festival’s continuing evolutions.
Taking place in Perth, Fremantle and surrounding suburbs over four-days, from Thursday 3 – Sunday 6 November, WAMFest is set to deliver a potent dose of local music, showcasing over 150+ acts across 20+ venues. We’re excited to introduce the likewise newly named WAMCon, including an initial 17 touring speakers revealed in the first announcement for an event that will eventually see 50+ speakers in total. Also the shape of the Block Party and Saturday Spectacular has been teased (acts to come soon), plus an expanded Friday Showcases program, with 13 events already confirmed. We’re also psyched to announce an Australian first, seeing WAMFest teaming up with Parlour to put festival programming into the hands of the public for Sunday Best! Plus the WAMAwards are set for Thursday 3 November, with more details uncovered soon.
