It’s been a big year for everyone, and that’s no different for Set for Life. The game celebrated its 4th birthday, two West Aussies took out Division 1 prizes, and a game revamp meant the introduction of a new runner up prize and improved odds, leading to a flurry of Division 2 winners.
The first Division 1 winner of the year said he can “sit back and relax” after becoming $20,000 richer a month for 20 years. The man in his 60s said he planned to retire in June 2020 but will bring that forward and buy a caravan to begin his Aussie travel adventures.
The Geraldton man, who purchased his ticket online, said he had used the same numbers for 30 years, and when Set for Life started in 2015 he added the game to his play list. “I like Set for Life because it’s great value as your ticket is valid for seven days,” he said.
“I was planning on retiring in three months, and didn’t know how I was going to do it, but now I needn’t worry, can retire early, buy a caravan and travel in style.”
Shortly after this March win, Set for Life changed for the better. Division 1 changed to seven winning numbers out of 44, which means the odds of winning any prize improved. Plus, the Division 2 prize was boosted from a total value of $6,000 to winners being set for the year, with $5,000 a month for 12 months.
The game revamp saw 22 WA Division 2 winners throughout the rest of the year. A couple in their 30s were WA’s first Division Two winners following the changes. “We’ve been using our own numbers since August and dropped one number off since the new game launched,” the winner said.
“Two weeks later it’s delivered a Division Two win. Some new shoes and work clothes will be in order as my old ones were getting holes in them.”
The year wrapped up with another WA Division 1 win, with a couple from the mid-west now Set for Life. The pair didn’t go over the top with their celebrations, enjoying pizza at home while they soaked in that winning feeling.
