Superdraw winner mistook $2.5 million win for Division Three

A Kenwick man has come forward to claim his $2.5 million Superdraw prize, after initially mistaking the Division One win for a Division Three win of $920.

The man, in his 60s, checked the numbers following the draw but didn’t notice one of the winning numbers.

“I thought I had five of the numbers and won $920, which I was very happy about,” he said.

“I went back to the newsagency later that week and was in complete shock when the staff told me I had actually won $2.5 million.

The winner plans to use his prize to travel, help his children with their mortgages, and likes the sound of a house on the coast.

“This is life-changing money we’re talking about here.

“The wife and I are heading into town tonight to celebrate.”

Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said so far this year, 38 WA players have won Division One and shared more than $45 million in prizes.

“WA players make Lotterywest grants possible, and last Saturday’s Superdraw alone raised more than $3.3 million for our grants program.”

Thanks to our grants program, Lotterywest provided almost $700,000 to the Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia to support volunteers and boost accessibility at the 2024 Perth Royal Show, kicking off later this month.

The next chance for WA players to win big is this Saturday’s $10 million Special Event.

Tickets are available until 6pm on Saturday in-store, online and via the Lotterywest App.
