The owner of a Saturday Lotto prize worth more than $1.2 million said the first thing that came to mind on what to spend his winnings on was a ‘fancy breakfast.’
Across the country four Division One prizes were sold in Saturday’s draw, with WA’s winner an online player.
When asked in Lotterywest’s winners’ room about what he would spend his seven figure windfall on first, the man from Perth’s north said a fancy breakfast with family would be the best place to start.
“I’ve been playing for around 20 years,” he said.
“I checked my ticket on the phone, and it said winner, but no prize amount. From there I had a funny feeling.
“I checked the numbers and discovered I had won and thought to myself ‘oh well done’.”
Meanwhile a woman from south of the river came forward to claim a Set for Life prize sold from Labouchere Newsagency in Como worth $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.
“I buy Lotto for charity, it was never my intention to win,” she said.
Thanks to WA players and local retailers, all available profits from every Lotterywest ticket sold goes back to the WA community in the form of grants.
This includes a $2.2 million grant towards Dogs Refuge Home WA for equipment and amenity upgrades to support volunteers and the animal welfare activities.
